Oh how I hate Craig'sList!
Just a rant, don't mind me ... but it seems like every time I put stuff up on Craig'sList, some idiot e-mails me right away and says they're interested, sets up a time to come pick up the item - and then never shows up, with no explanation. I'm not willing to chase them down by e-mail (I don't feel like that's my job, as the seller), and I damn sure don't want to trade phone numbers (the whole reason I went into online sales is so I wouldn't have to conduct business by phone). And while on occasion I have made badly-needed quick sales on Craig'sList, it seems that most of my experiences have been of this negative type.

They really need some kind of feedback system - though I guess this is the price for having a "free" service. I just want to kick those jerks that are wasting my time and stressing me out as I keep expecting someone to arrive when they said they would. (I hate the idea of people coming to my home, anyway, so I'm on ultra-high alert whenever I'm expecting a buyer - and then to have it all be for nothing makes me wish all sorts of bad things on the responsible assholes.)

End rant. Bah.

1. Update rant:
Woman who claimed she wanted to buy a piece of furniture from me makes appointment to pick it up - for the third time, having missed both previous appointments without so much as an explanation, let alone an apology. This time she claimed she would be here at 9 PM tonight. That was two hours ago.

I massively restrained myself from writing her the nasty e-mail that was burning in my fingertips, but I did make it clear that I wasn't happy with the situation, and that I would NOT put the damn thing on hold for her. I think if she did show up now, even with dollars in hand, I would tell her to go to hell.

2. That's awful.
It doesn't seem like something so simple has to be so complicated and negative. It seems like simple common courtesy is becoming a thing of the past. I hear a lot of complaints about Craig's list and even my local yard sale site where people just don't bother to show up or call.

3. I believe it's our society. I used to do traveling photography - set up in peoples
homes for portraits, pets, etc.
I had an appointment for 9AM on a Saturday, and was just climbing the stairs to the house with my 2 large cases of equipment when I saw my clients leaving in their car.
No call, no nothing - and this was from people I had known for decades.

The worst part about any business is dealing with the public.
