eat dinner tonight. Up since 5AM. Two glasses of wine and a bowl of cheese popcorn, even take-out was too much to think about. I'm off to bed soon to hopefully get some sleep in order to face tomorrow.

Word of warning for all having yard sales. We had a lot of merchandise stolen today. My daughter and I were conducting the sale and we were often comparing notes. Did you sell the XXX?
No, did you? No. Its gone.

This really upset me because the prices were so cheap. It is very necessary to sell this stuff so we really priced it low. To steal it is beyond my comprehension.

Funny: We had a bus full of Senior Citizens stop by. About 20 got off, searched around and cleaned us out of vases and flower pots, with a few other smalls thrown in.

I swear I will never do this again. Too much work. Of course that won't keep me from stopping at every sale I see. Once it is in your blood, it won't go away.

1. People who swipe stuff at yard sales are the lowest of the low.

Last year I went to a sale an elderly lady and her son were having to prepare her house for sale. I asked if she had any old jewelry for sale and she said she might, but she hadn't put it out. She then went to a room off the main area where they were selling to bring out her jewelry box so I could look at what she had. Apparently someone had gone into the room and taken the whole thing. I know who was there and have a sneaking suspicion who might have taken it, but no real proof to say anything. It bothered me alot though.

2. Every time I hold a garage sale...

...which has always been at my mom's house, because she gets more traffic than I do, she swears it will be "the last one ever." But next year comes, and I have more stuff, and she has more stuff, so we hold another one. I'm the one that puts it all together, anyway, so her only real complaint is the disruption and clutter over a weekend.

It's a convenient way to unload things that are too big or too complicated to sell online. For instance I prefer to sell clothing and shoes at a garage sale as opposed to eBay, so people can look at it in person and decide for themselves whether it will fit, whether it's in acceptable condition, etc. People's evaluation of what's in "good condition" when it comes to clothing is highly individualized, I've found.

Sorry to hear you had stuff stolen - that's really low. People are desperate, I guess, but that's no excuse. It's not as though they're stealing food.
