Need help with a whatsit
I have been a tool collector for nearly 20 years. This one has me stumped. I have searched Victor and found bicycles, Victor Victrola, Victor traps, but have found none of these brands to use the crossed swords logo. I have also searched VicXtor (out of desperation) and found nothing. The black japaning indicates late 19th to mid 20th century. The styling and ornate handle indicates late 19th to early 20th century. The little wrench on the end reminds me of a bicycle spoke wrench but I don't know what the reamer type long end would be used for on a bicycle. Any ideas or knowledge of 1. what this tool is or 2. the company who uses this logo with the swords? Thanks.

1. This is a guess, but maybe it's a gizmo made by the Victor
that is associated with records and is for putting those big, fat records on a Victrola.

2. The only logo I can find associated
with Victor a.k.a. Victor Victrola a.k.a. RCA Victor is 'His Master's Voice'.

I have looked at some online manuals and catalogs for Victor and haven't seen anything like this. I feel that if I could figure out what it is for it would help me target a buyer for it. If it is in fact for a Victrola or a Victor Bicycle it should make it quite a lot more desirable than as a whatsit. I have had this for a couple of years and every so often have searched the web for an answer, each time coming up empty. I have several advanced wrench and tool collector friends who are stumped by it too. I have been collecting stuff for over 30 years and don't recall having anything stump me for this long before. Now it has become a principal thing that I must identify it.

4. Thanks
Now I know I am in good company in not knowing. Prior to this I had seen no other reference to this tool.

6. Unfortunately
that price range (20-40) is the fate of most interesting whatsit tools. OTOH if it can be identified as being a Victor bicycle tool, a Victor cash register tool, or a Victrola tool, the value would likely be more.
