I stumbled upon a great show for lovers of "stuff."
It's on the History Channel and is called "Pawn Stars." It's about a pawn shop in Las Vegas and the goods people bring in to either sell or pawn. I have to admit I've actually been learning a few things from this show, especially about antique firearms. Not that I care a whole lot about guns, but if I happened to be at a yard sale and spotted something that looked antique I'd probably buy it at the right price. In any case, since we're in the "off" season here in New England, it's something to watch during the dreaded months without yard/tag/church sales.

1. It's a fun show
Especially because of the relationships. And I like that "the old man" likes vintage cars.

The items that come in are interesting but I'd be careful with weapons and militaria. My brother was a militaria dealer on the east coast and like every other genre, it's a world filled with twists and turns and fraud.

I've missed the first shows in this season of Pawn Stars. At least they repeat them so I can catch up.

2. Added that to favorites. Thanks Vinca.
Anything like this is good for the old knowledge base.
I'm not fond of the Antiques Roadshow . They are all a little too rehearsed and a lot pompous. Love the British one however. Especially the older Gent who specializes in porcelain and pottery. He's a hoot!

3. I'm always amazed at the things people bring in on the British version.
The settings are incredible, too. Makes me want to hop on a plane.

6. Did you catch the episode the other night with the seriously old locked box?
I loved the box, but I was holding my breath when they opened it thinking they might find a few million dollar gold coins inside. It was empty, of course, but the locking mechanism was incredible. I think the pawn guys got a heck of a deal on that one.

5. OH THANK YOU
...a thousand times. I will never understand why there isn't an antiques/collectibles TV network.
