1. For delicates that can't bear soaking...

Make up a solution of Woolite and whip up plenty of light suds. Apply the suds only to the fabric with soft cloth, light circular motion. Use clean, damp absorbent cloth to remove suds and whatever dirt comes up.

Learned this in the 80s and it sounds like it would apply for your lamp shade fabric.

2. Sounds like it has a nice shape to it

So if you ruin the fabric you can always try your hand at recovering the frame.

That's probably what I'd try, but then, I ruin lots of things trying out my ideas, lol.
