This is a first. Went to several YS's this Am. Not much to brag about.

One of then was taking bids on their goods. Bids? This was not a yard sale, it was an auction of sorts. I hope it backfires. Many of us waited for an hour or so outside the gate. When we were allowed in, not only were the prices on the regular goods through the roof but the they were taking offers on anything was of interest to most of us.
The purpose of a YS is to rid yourself of goods no longer of interest to you. The 'leave a Bid' was beyond anything I have seen.
It, in my opinion, is the responsibility of the seller to value their goods, not take bids from the audience.

1. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of! Taking bids????

I had my husband drive me to a few sales today (he's a prince). The first one we hit was foolishly overpriced. Who on earth wants wooden shoes for $65? I found a few things, but mostly it was good to be back in the hunt. Maybe I'll be driving myself by next weekend. The doctor said I'm good to go whenever I feel the time is right.

2. I have seen "leave a bid" at estate sales....

...for big items. But never at a YS.

Today I stopped for a minute at a thrift shop and found a dish/bowl I like quite a bit. It's Mykolo Upsala Ekeby made in Sweden, mid-century, and is heavy and painted with mushrooms. I'm keeping this one.

Hit the Goodwill store today, picked up a book about Maine I've been looking for and that's about it.
