What a surprise my Saturday tag sale excursion was . . . especially since there were only 4 or 5 sales listed. My first buy of the day was a very old, wooden, original sculpture by a listed artist, followed immediately by a Hermes cashmere sweater, a Steiff animal and a vintage Florida tablecloth. At the next sale I found a sterling silver and enamel Lusitania spoon made the year before the ship sank! For some strange reason I bought boxes and boxes of baseball cards at the next stop. I know nothing about baseball cards, but I figured even if there weren't any great ones I could divvy them up to resell as lots. At the last stop I bought an Eliot Porter signed and numbered print for a dollar, as well as another photo by a person I'd never heard of but who turned out to be a photographer of note. If only every weekend could be so good for sales!
