Lively Mexican restaurant (in the bar), the Baseball All Star Game was on TV, lots of happy, laughing people around, I was waited on, and reading what is promising to be a great book!

17. It's called The Historian.

It's probably one I wouldn't have picked up on my own, but there were pages of rave reviews (on the cover - not as gushing on amazon, naturally). I just read a review on amazon saying that after the 300th page it slows down, so I'll keep you posted if I think it's worth a read AFTER I get past page 300. :).

Here's what it says on the cover:

I've found that when I finally do read books like this that are wildly popular, I'm glad I did even if I didn't think it would be "my type of book". We'll see about this one (which now has a guacamole splat on it.)
