as the guest of honor!
Vice President Joe Biden used a speech at a Seattle breakfast fundraiser for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., to praise Murray, defend the Obama administration and describe how Democrats will win in the November elections.
"We are creating jobs, our foreign policy is once again respected in the world, we are bringing our troops home from Iraq, we are once again leading the world," Biden said. "That's who we are as Democrats." /snip
Citing her "absolute unvarnished integrity," Biden said Murray is an especially effective Senator.
"Patty has this dangerously disarming way of making you think that she is your sister and just looking out for your interest, but you come to think that your interest lies in Washington state," he said. "I don"t know how it happens, but it happens." /snip
Biden used the event to defend the economic stimulus for which the administration has been criticized. He called it a "necessary precondition."
"The financial system was in crisis," he said. "Guess what? It had to be dealt with or we would have had a depression. We weren't talking about the largest banks in America having to reorganize. We were talking about whether they would shutter their doors. Go out of business." /snip
Representatives from various Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party groups were on hand to protest the event (ASSHOLES), although demonstrators from MoveOn.org and other groups were also there to show their support for Biden and Murray. (That was nice!)
I posted in another thread that in the Old Days, Joe would have gone out and talked with the protesters and supporters. :7
