Venezuela sends humanitarian aid to Gaza
Venezuela sends humanitarian aid to Gaza
12th January 2009, 10:16 WST

Venezuela says it has sent an army Hercules C130 cargo plane bearing 12.5 tonnes of medical supplies and other materials to the besieged population of the Gaza Strip.

The plane was headed to Cairo, where the relief aid would be transferred to trucks for their overland trip to Gaza, President Hugo Chavez said on Sunday.

"We count on the support of the Egyptian government and the United Nations so this life-sustaining shipment can reach the Palestinian people," Chavez said during his "Alo Presidente" radio talk show.

Chavez once again slammed Israel for "waging a Holocaust against the Palestinian people" in their 16-day offensive on Gaza, and said a second, 80-tonne humanitarian shipment would leave Venezuela for Gaza next week.

1. Good news, and a moral response to a vast scale sin against humanity.
The supplies should be so helpful as they are in such dire straights now. How desperate they must be feeling, how hopeless.

Thanks for the news. Good for Venezuela.

Maybe this will change as soon as Bush leaves office and Israel sees it's big bully patron has left.

3. Never heard there are many anti-war people in Israel until somewhat recently, oddly enough.
They surely get drowned out by the death-merchants, hate mongers. They are exactly like our own right-wingers. Useless to the world, and so damned destructive. It takes forever to overcome only some of the tragedy they inflict in the world. There's NO recovery from most of it, not ever.

4. The Israeli peace and reconciliation movement seems to be highly censored.

Back during the slaughter in Lebanon, stories I found and posted on a Friday seemed to go missing by Sunday night -- it was uncanny.

This site has some good links: http://otherisrael.home.igc.org/sites.html

5. Thanks for this link. I want to examine it later when it's quiet. Had no idea there were this many.
What do you want to bet the government there infiltrates them just as it happened in Argentina, and other fascist goverments in the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's.

I'll bet they have been harrassed. It would take courage to officially organize for PEACE these days.
