ABOUT THOSE FARC COMPUTERS - direct from Colombia
(Anthony Boynton in Colombia post this to
Marxmail earlier in the day today.)
============================================
Every dirty cop in the world knows about planting evidence, and the
Colombian cops are as dirty as they come.

There is absolutely no evidence that the Colombian army found any
computer anywhere near Raul reyes's camp in Ecuador.

An interesting video clip of the camp was released by the Colombian
Minister of Defense, it can be seen at
http://www.eltiempo.com/multimedia/video/judicial/VIDEO-WEB-PLANTILLA_VIDEOS-3986717.html

There are several interesting things about the video. First it does
not show the camp shown by the videos released by the Ecuadoran
government. Second it shows Colmbian soldiers counting a large number
of dollars. Third it shows the body of Raul Reyes.

The most interesting thing is that it does not show any computers!
Very strange if the three computers allegedly taken were such
important pieces of evidence.

What brand the computers are supposed to be will probably be known
very soon, however.

The Colombian government has in fact captured the computers of a
number of FARC leaders, and used the information found in them to
fill in the blanks in its electronic surveillance of the FARC.

In every known case the computers were displayed at press conferences
for all to see. The exact make and even the serial numbers became
public knowledge within hours of the capture of those computers.

What is so strange about the supposed computers of "Raul Reyes" is
that nobody has seen these tropies yet.

Those computers could easily be recycled to appear as the "smoking
guns" to be used in the case against Venezuela, Ecuador and the FARC.
Or they could be used to create other "smoking gun" computers. The
real files found in those computers could be mixed with the planted
evidence easily, to make a more convincing fraud.

How careful will the Colombian government be in preparing its
falsified evidence? So far they have been very sloppy, but the FBI,
DEA and CIA are down here working night and day to make sure things
are done right!

And we all know what pros those guys are!

4. Colombia worried about rebel plan involving uranium but has no evidence of plot for dirty bomb

2008-03-06 04:30:20 -

... «They propose to sell each kilo at US$2.5 million (€1.65 million) and they'll deliver it and we'll see to whom we can sell it and so the deal would be with a government to sell them a lot,» he writes. «They've got 50 kilos ready and they can sell a lot more, they have direct contact with those who have the product ...

The price mentioned suggests that the uranium would be processed, and hence dangerous. Unprocessed uranium is relatively harmless and goes for about US$100 (€66) a kilo, according to Charles Ferguson, a physicist with the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington.
«If it were weapons-grade, highly enriched uranium, I'd be freaking out because you can make a low-yield improvised nuclear device from that,» Ferguson said. But he added: «I'm not aware of any highly enriched uranium of appreciable quantities in the region of Colombia, Venezuela or anywhere else near there ...

$300 MILLION FROM CHAVEZ
TO FARC A FAKE

Friday, March 6, 2008 for TomPaine.com/Ourfuture.org
By Greg Palast

Do you believe this?

This past weekend, Colombia invaded Ecuador, killed a guerrilla chief in the jungle, opened his laptop – and what did the Colombians find? A message to Hugo Chavez that he sent the FARC guerrillas $300 million – which they’re using to obtain uranium to make a dirty bomb!

That’s what George Bush tells us. And he got that from his buddy, the strange right-wing President of Colombia, Alvaro Uribe.

So: After the fact, Colombia justifies its attempt to provoke a border war as a way to stop the threat of WMDs! Uh, where have we heard that before?

The US press snorted up this line about Chavez’ $300 million to “terrorists” quicker than the young Bush inhaling Colombia’s powdered export.

What the US press did not do is look at the evidence, the email in the magic laptop. (Presumably, the FARC leader’s last words were, “Listen, my password is ….”)

I read them. (You can read them here) While you can read it all in español, here is, in translation, the one and only mention of the alleged $300 million from Chavez:

“… With relation to the 300, which from now on we will call “dossier,” efforts are now going forward at the instructions of the boss to the cojo , which I will explain in a separate note. Let’s call the boss Ángel, and the cripple Ernesto.”

Got that? Where is Hugo? Where’s 300 million? And 300 what? Indeed, in context, the note is all about the hostage exchange with the FARC that Chavez was working on at the time (December 23, 2007) at the request of the Colombian government.

Indeed, the entire remainder of the email is all about the mechanism of the hostage exchange. Here’s the next line:
“To receive the three freed ones, Chavez proposes three options: Plan A. Do it to via of a ‘humanitarian caravan’; one that will involve Venezuela, France, the Vatican, Switzerland, European Union, democrats , Argentina, Red Cross, etc.”

As to the 300, I must note that the FARC’s previous prisoner exchange involved 300 prisoners. Is that what the ‘300’ refers to? ¿Quien sabe? Unlike Uribe, Bush and the US press, I won’t guess or make up a phastasmogoric story about Chavez mailing checks to the jungle.

To bolster their case, the Colombians claim, with no evidence whatsoever, that the mysterious “Angel” is the code name for Chavez. But in the memo, Chavez goes by the code name … Chavez.

Well, so what? This is what . . . .
Colombia’s invasion into Ecuador is a rank violation of international law, condemned by every single Latin member of the Organization of American States. But George Bush just loved it. He called Uribe to back Colombia, against, “the continuing assault by narco-terrorists as well as the provocative maneuvers by the regime in Venezuela.”

Well, our President may have gotten the facts ass-backward, but Bush knows what he’s doing: shoring up his last, faltering ally in South America, Uribe, a desperate man in deep political trouble.

Uribe claims he is going to bring charges against Chavez before the International Criminal Court. If Uribe goes there in person, I suggest he take a toothbrush: it was just discovered that right-wing death squads held murder-planning sessions at Uribe’s ranch. Uribe’s associates have been called before the nation’s Supreme Court and may face prison.

7. No computers anywhere near that evidence. Figures.
Walter Lippmann is totally aware of how these people operate, after watching them so very long.

Thanks.
