"My government will give not a single step to incorporate Salvador into the ALBA or the 21st Century Socialism," Funes, the first leftwing president in the history of Salvador, told reporters, Efe quoted.
The ALBA was established in 2004 by Venezuela and Cuba. It was later joined by Bolivia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Honduras and some Caribbean islands.
Funes noted that he respected, but as a president he did not share, the decision adopted by his party, the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) in a regular convention recently held where they backed a call for the 5th Socialist International.
