Venezuela ends spat with Spain over ETA links
Spain and Venezuela ended a tense spat between governments by issuing a joint statement Saturday in which the Latin American country denied any links with Basque separatists.
The statement said the two governments would continue to cooperate in police and legal investigations.
Tension arose when Spanish National Court judge Eloy Velasco claimed on Monday that Venezuela had links with armed group ETA.
Velasco had indicted six ETA members, most exiled in Latin America, and seven members of Colombian rebel group FARC on charges including plotting to kill former Colombian President Andres Pastrana and current President Alvaro Uribe.
