USA seeks to destabilize Nicaragua
Nicaragua: Nicaragua is under a destabilizing strategy similar to the one aimed at other member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), said an article published in Managua on Monday.

In a column entitled "The United States and its Tangle of NGOs in Nicaragua," Uruguayan journalist based in Sweden Jorge Capelan explains that the destabilizing strategy the United States has pursued in Venezuela through non governmental organizations and "contractor" firms is also being applied in Nicaragua against the Sandinista Government.

Published here by La Primerisima radio website, the article recalls that since 1994, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) started to install the so-called Offices of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in several countries worldwide.

They were originally created to support transition to capitalism in East European countries, but they later spread to other states where it was necessary to address situations in which US interests were threatened, said the article.

It added that in Venezuela, OTI was created in July 2002, little after the failed coup against President Hugo Chavez, and in Bolivia it was installed in late 2005 to try to prevent Evo Morales from coming to power.

According to Capelan's article, under USAID orders, these OTIs have established networks in countries, where they operate with political parties, the media and non governmental organizations which they provide with funds and training to implement policies serving US interests.

There is no OTI in Nicaragua, but the USAID develops a similar strategy against the Sandinista Government through the program run by paramilitary DynCorp firm.

1. DynCorp got kicked out of Ecuador, and the DEA, USAID, Peace Corps and the U.S. ambassador
got kicked out of Bolivia, for such meddling--to the great benefit of these countries in both cases. I hope that the Sandinista government does the same. I am frigging sick and tired of billions of our tax dollars going to rightwing groups throughout Latin America--most notoriously, perhaps (besides Venezuela) in Honduras, where John McCain funneled $40 million dollars, via the "International Republican Institute" (funded by USAID) to rightwing groups in the year before the coup, along with millions that Hillary Clinton funneled to pro-coup business groups from the Millennium project, and the body count of leftists in Colombia is in the tens of thousands, where we squander $7 BILLION on the Colombian military which is closely tied to the rightwing paramilitary death squads. The U.S. is ACTIVELY, with our tax dollars, supporting COUPS--and fascists, rightwingers, murderers, torturers, vile human rights abusers. It is outrageous and it is sickening.

2. You're right. It's grotesque. The people running these hideous programs which benefit
only the sleazy right-wingers here and in positions of power in Latin America are assaulting the populations of Latin America and the Caribbean with absolutely no one anywhere in sight to check them.

We can only hope for the right-wing sub-species to evolve suddenly, with intensity so the world of human beings can finally live.

Don't forget Hillary Clinton worked for Barry Goldwater's presidential campaign when she was young!
