Brazil's Leftist Pre-Candidate Gomes To Quit Presidential Race


SAO PAULO -(Dow Jones)- The Brazilian Socialist Party decided that its pre- candidate, Ciro Gomes, will drop out of the 2010 presidential election, it said in a press release posted on its website late Tuesday.

The Party also announced that next week it will formalize its support for President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's hand-picked Workers' Party candidate, Dilma Rousseff.

This kind of sucks given the fact that Ciro Gomes brought a different perspective that is needed in this race.
