The original 9/11 -- Santiago de Chile

Click on the video on the right for images today. The march was very large, around 10,000 participants according to La Tercera newspaper. Video is two minutes.

Another video

First part (one minute) has Juan Carlos Concha, who was Allende's health minister, basically saying the Unidad Popular of Allende was ahead of its time, that the Chilean brand of socialism in the 1970s was a model for the socialist movements that in recent years have swept Latin America, especially Venezuela.

The second part (two minutes) features historical footage of Allende's final speech ("I will pay the peoples' loyalty with my life"), the bombing of La Moneda and Nixon/Kissinger.

There was a peaceful march by families of the dictatorship's victims, but as usual it ended with hooded malcontents clashing with Carabineros at Santiago's General Cemetery, where Allende and many of the junta's victims are buried.

Hard to believe that it was 37 years ago !!!!
