Cuban and Panamanian parliament leaders signed a joint statement calling for efforts to boost the cooperative ties between the two countries, the official daily Granma reported Tuesday.
The document, released at the end of the 14th Cuba-Panama Inter-Parliament Meeting, was signed by Hugo Moreno, chairman of the Parliamentary Panama-Cuba Friendship Group and Ramon Pez Ferro, president of the International Relations Committee of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the agreements contained in the previous joint declaration signed in Panama City in December 2009, and voiced support for the initiative of creating the Latin America and Caribbean Community as "a true representative body of regional integration."
The Panamanian lawmakers also expressed their willingness to increase cooperation with Cuba in the fields of health and sports through the training of qualified personnel by Cuban coaches and technicians.
