A meeting of (diabolical) minds in the Dominican Republic ?

Last night was reading Listin Diario, the largest newspaper in the Dominican Republic.

Discovered that an unusual cast of characters arrived there this past weekend on "vacation."

They are:

George H.W. Bush
George W. Bush
Jose Maria Aznar of Spain
Brian Mulroney, ex PM of Canada
Alvaro Uribe

According to article below, they were invited the the swanky Casa del Campo resort by none other than Gustavo Cisneros, the anti-Chavez media billionaire from Venezuela, who has a mansion there.

Suppose they will be playing golf.

Talking about something.

Los exmandatarios de EE.UU. George H.W.

1. Oh, for chrissakes! Bill and Hillary Clinton often go there, too. Un-####ing-believable.
Rabs, you recall either Alfi or Pepe Fanjul (the Cuban "exile" sugar baron owners of the resort at Casa de Campo) was a heavy contributor to Bill Clinton's Presidential campaigns. The other one is the one who contributes to Republicans, so no matter who's in office, they can always expect a friend in the White House.

Can't believe this place has such a heavy political clientele. Damned creepy, isn't it? It really, really makes one wonder.

Gustavo Cisneros, Cuban-Venezuelan, is the long-time "fishing buddy" of George H. W. Bush. There's even a photo floating around the internet of the two of them standing in water together.

2. I heard Cisneros had financed Chavez' campaign in 1998-1999
I understand it was Cisneros who financed Chavez in his first run for the presidency. Cisneros adapted his TV channel so it wouldn't criticize Chavez, and his business lines have been protected by Chavez. If he's plotting with the US rightwing, Chavez will go after his properties.

5. He apparently assumed he could buy a President, then learned he couldn't.
It was well known everywhere immediately after the coup who was involved in the planning. Those people were all lucky the government didn't zero in on them with a vengeance as soon as the President was returned to his office by the people of Venezuela who found out about the coup even though the private media had totally blocked all public news, had jammed the programming with reruns of Pretty Girl, assorted crap, and had taken out community Katia TV and community radio stations, totally knocked them out, as per orders of the Caracas mayor Alfredo Peña to make sure the people didn't know until it was too late.

If he's plotting with the right-wing, as you put it, Hugo Chavez would still have to stay within the law to "go after his properties." Everyone would know Cisneros for what he has done regarding the coup, etc. There's no mystery there. You are making no points whatsoever with these lame remarks.
