Tegucigalpa, May 7 (Prensa Latina) Over 100 Honduran and U.S. people gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Tegucigalpa to demand the closing of the School of the Americas.
According to press reports, demonstrators urged government officials and civil society organizations to prevent more Honduran soldiers from being trained at that base.
Catholic priest Roy Bourgois, founder of the School of the Americas Watch, led the protest.

As of 2004, Honduras had sent nearly 3,566 soldiers to train at the School of the Americas, many of whom applied in this Central American country the torture skills learned there.
