The congressman who on Monday assumed position in the commission that investigates former President Alvaro Uribe over his alleged role in illegally wiretapping political opponents resigned Wednesday saying he has been threatened.

According to the representative, he started receiving threats telling him not "to mess with Uribe" two months ago when he took part in a different investigative commission on crimes allegedly committed by the former president when he was governor of the Antioquia department.
Abril, who wouldn't get into details of the intimidations, said he did not know where the threats were coming from, but rejected the idea Uribe himself was behind them.

For some reason, I find it hard to believe that Uribe is completely unrelated to this. Not that it was exactly likely this kind of commission, as opposed to an actual court of law, would dare to find him guilty even if the evidence may suggest so...but never mind. Business as usual.
