The Green Party ex-mayor expressed gratitude to the candidate, stating, "I appreciate Gustavo's invitation, I publicly reiterate my admiration, my respect and tenderness and I hope that in some way the paths lead at some moment in life to a construction together, I don't know if it will happen now or later."

The former mayor has threatened to leave the Green Party following the party's Bogota mayoral candidate Enrique Peñalosa's alliance with former President Alvaro Uribe and the rest of the Partido de la U, and backing by the majority of the party.

It would be an interesting alliance, hypothetically speaking, but in my opinion Mockus still seems a little too indecisive and reluctant to leave the Green Party at this time, despite the previously mentioned crisis.
