Venezuelan government seizes glass manufacturer

El Universal: Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez ordered the forced acquisition of the movable and immovable property, rights and improvements of Vidrios Venezolanos Extras (Vivex), a glass manufacturer located in the state of Anzoategui.

The government action is for the "Consolidation of the Industrial Capacity of the Public Sector in the Manufacturing of the laminated safety glass and tempered glass used in the automotive industry."

The seized goods will be tax-free or limitation-free items. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Intermediate Industries will be responsible for the measure.
