The main leader of the Venezuelan Communist Party (PCV) criticized President Hugo Chávez and complained on Monday that an agreement Chávez signed with Colombia on intelligence cooperation violates Venezuela's sovereignty.
"The PCV requests the government to suspend and nullify the intelligence cooperation agreements that Venezuela has signed with Colombia," said Oscar Figuera, the secretary-general of the Venezuelan Communist Party.
Figuera said that his party rejected the bilateral agreement based upon two premises: the presence of the Colombian Department of Administrative Security (DAS) in Venezuela and the fact that "the data submitted to the Colombian intelligence agencies is also controlled by the US intelligence community and by international Zionism. We are providing intelligence data to the imperialism," Figuera said.
