'Red altert' issued for former Colombian security director
Panamá, viernes 10 de junio de 2011
The Panama office of Interpol received a "red alert" Wednesday for former Colombia Security Director María del Pilar Hurtado, who has been living in Panama since November 2010 under asylum granted by President Ricardo Martinelli.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Colombia Prosecutor's Office requested that Interpol issue a world-wide alert for the capture of Hurtado, who is wanted in that country for crimes related to the illegal surveillance of judges, reporters and political opponents of the former government.
The order to arrest Hurtado was issued May 24 by a Superior Court judge in Bogota.
The order for her capture can only be carried out if Hurtado leaves Panama.
