Colombian president hails relations with Venezuela
16:30, June 21, 2011
Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos on Monday praised the good relations between his government and Venezuela, 10 months after diplomatic ties between the two Andean countries normalized.
The normalized ties have benefitted both countries ever since Colombia restored trust with Venezuelan President Hogo Chavez, Santos said.
Colombia-Venezuela relations were severed in July 2010 during the final days of the government of former President Alvaro Uribe, who alleged that Venezuela was harboring Colombian rebels in its territory.
The diplomatic row was resolved in December 2010 shortly after Santos took office.
