The newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo says in an exclusive report Friday that the mission by the U.N. Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture will take place in the second half of this year.
The report says the investigation will include both adult prisons and juvenile detention centers, but the subcommittee won't announce which facilities it intends to visit.
The newspaper says the mission also aims to pressure Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff to sign U.N. treaties on torture prevention.
