TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras -- Honduran President Porfirio Lobo says he is ready to start talking with the Central American country's political and social leaders about possible changes to the constitution.

Lobo says he will start accepting proposals next month on whether to hold an assembly to rewrite the constitution and on what articles need to be added or changed.

An effort by then President Manuel Zelaya to hold a national referendum on whether to call a constitutional assembly led to his ouster two years ago. Lobo was later elected to succeed Zelaya.

Zelaya's opponents accused him then of wanting to lift the charter's ban on presidential re-election. He denied that.
