Peru President Garcia Calls For Prayers For Venezuela's Chavez

LIMA -(Dow Jones)- Peruvian President Alan Garcia on Friday called for Peruvians to pray for the well-being of Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez, who is suffering from cancer.

Speaking to reporters, Garcia said that he wished for a speedy recovery for the Venezuelan leader, who is currently in Cuba.

"We should all prey for Hugo, our Latin American brother, so that he can recover from this situation," Garcia told reporters.

Chavez late Thursday said in a televised address that he had been operated on for cancer.
