Ollanta Humala to visit Chávez in Caracas
Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala had postponed his visit to Venezuela to meet with President Hugo Chávez due to the Venezuelan president s health condition. Chávez underwent two surgeries in Cuba last month

Chávez's Health
Peruvian President-elect Ollanta Humala will travel on Thursday night to Venezuela to visit President Hugo Chávez, Humala's press office told Efe. The Venezuelan president suffers from cancer.

This visit had been postponed due to the health condition of Chávez, who underwent two surgeries in Cuba last month. The stop in Venezuela was the only visit left in Humala's South American tour, after winning the presidential election last June 5, Efe reported.

During the election campaign in 2011, Humala distanced himself from Chávez's political influence and supported the Brazilian model adopted by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The Peruvian president-elect used to be a close ally of Chávez in his first presidential bid in 2006.
