Colombian ex-President Alvaro Uribe on Monday accused one of the vice presidents of the European Parliament of being friends with the leftist rebel group FARC.
“Isabelle Durant, European parliament, is abusive because of her friendships with the FARC,” Uribe said on Twitter.
The former president’s comments were made in response to an El Espectador interview in which Durant said it was "impossible" Uribe was unaware of the illegal wiretapping of Supreme Court magistrates and his political opponents.
At the time of the interceptions, the DAS reported directly to the Presidency. The former head of state is currently under investigation by a congressional commission for his involvement in the scandal and claims the illegal wiretapping was carried out behind his back.
