It seems that some words are forbidden in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. "We have five cases of new non-governmental organizations (NGO's) that brought their articles of incorporation to civil registry offices in Caracas and they were refused because the terms "democracy," "human rights" and/or "civil and political rights" were included in their purposes. The news was given by attorney Liliana Ortega, the director of the Committee for the Relatives and Victims of the Events of February and March of 1989 (Cofavic).
"All the rejections were made in oral form; they alleged to follow 'superior orders.' We have one case only of rejection in written form," Ortega said.
Foro por la Vida (Forum for Life), the most important network of human rights advocates in Venezuela, has suffered sidelining of its own. The coalition born in 1997 has unsuccessfully sought its status of legal entity since 2009.

Ortega drew attention to another piece of evidence: complaints have been filed against 34 NGO's at the Attorney General Office and to date there are not news of the enquiry or its purposes.
