Colombia's Supreme Court recognized that former Senator Piedad Cordoba is a victim of illegal wiretapping by Colombia's intelligence agency DAS.

According to hearings from former Colombian Senate President Nancy Patricia Gutierrez, there is a high degree of certainty that she used illegally obtained information to advance political control over Piedad Cordoba.

The Supreme Court has therefore issued a security measure against Gutierrez, but Cordoba does not see this as a reparation for the damages to her political career.

What Cordoba asks for is public forgiveness for the deep pain he has caused by this case, specifically by Nancy Patricia Gutierrez, in a plot from the Casa del Nariño (Presidential Palace) of the former President Alvaro Uribe to discredit her," explained Cordoba's lawyer Luis Guillermo Perez.

"This was a move made mostly by Uribe to end the political career of Cordoba," Perez continued.
