Ex-Honduran minister: US offering to reinstate visas to some Honduran coup officials

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — A former Honduran minister says the U.S. State Department is offering her a visa that was revoked after a June 2009 coup deposing former President Manuel Zelaya.
Gabriela Nunez, finance minister under the post-coup, interim President Roberto Micheletti, says she received notice in June that she could reapply.
Nunez said Tuesday she didn’t know if other Honduran officials were eligible, but others said some were already traveling to the U.S.
The U.S. Embassy referred all questions to Washington, which didn’t immediately respond Tuesday.
