I find the tone of the health care debate on DU very interesting

if we had been desiring to ditch obama for "gay" causes in 2012, the words PUMA, whiny etc would be heard ad nauseum, I guess health care is a "real" cause. Other people's civil rights is just a froufrou cause

(I strongly support health care reform w.a public option but that wasn't really my point)

I think if people had fought with us back in the beginning the health debate may well have gone differently.

3. A whole lot of people are waking up to the fact that the "hope"

they were sold was mostly smoke and mirrors. You are very right. Now that the issues affect them personally it's okay to be disappointed. But when we were the only ones disappointed in what Obama was doing, well back then it wasn't acceptable. We were just whiners who all wanted our own special ponies. :eyes:

It is interesting how the discussions change when suddenly the majority is affected.
