The Queens error comes from two sources. One, a high school newspaper; and the other is attributed to Maya Ng. Ms. Ng, of course, is Mr. Obama's younger sister, and would have no first hand knowledge of his birthplace.

Interesting sidelights: They quote an interview with a teacher in Hawaii who spoke with the obstetrician who attended the president's birth, some time within the following week. He was quite taken by the baby's name. The teacher also remembered when the president's father came to speak at the school, where Barack Jr. was a student (this 10 years later, during his one and only trip back to Hawaii to visit his son).
