Minnesota State Senate candidate removes racist comments from his Twitter feed.

Local bloggers are reporting that Minnesota State Senate candidate Mike Parry removed more than 43 racist and homophobic tweets from his Twitter feed after progressives began researching and responding to him. The Minnesota Independent highlights one of Parry’s scrubbed tweets, which was apparently directed at President Barack Obama:

The day after the New York Times published an editorial on the Matthew Shepard Act and a week after it was passed in the House, Parry posted a tweet stating “what’s with Dems and Pedophiles?” After winning the GOP’s endorsement this week, Parry aptly described himself as “pro-life, a Christian, a second amendment rights supporter, a hard worker and not politically correct.”

4. And the Republicans just
keep electing these hideous people. In this case the same state that brought us Michelle Bachmann.

9. Here is a link to the DFL candidate's website

This is a special election to fill the seat of Dick Day (Republican) who has resigned his senate seat to become a lobbyist for expanding gambling in Minnesota (mainly with a "racino") and using the proceeds to help the Vikings build a new stadium.

The district is south of the Twin Cities on I35 and largely rural. The largest cities in the district are Fairbault which has a population around 21,000 and Owatanna populaton 23,000.

While Day is a Republican, the two State House seats in the district are held by DFLers so there is a chance the DFL candidate could win. However, the DFL usually has a harder time winning special elections, probably because voter turn out tends to be low in them and largely limited to party activists and those who have a loyatlty to one of the candidates. Anyone wants to help Jason Engbrecht should follow the link above.

I don't know if there are any other candidates running that might split either the DFL or Republican votes.

He's the epitome of the qualifications you need to be in the GOP these days

Racist, homophobic and clueless about how the internet works

(Seriously, did he think no one would see these?)

7. "Oh, I can just remove these later, right?"
Moron. The internet is basically a permanent archive, not a place for saying things you'd ever have to justify at a job interview, custody hearing, divorce settlement, etc.

10. What a miserable shitbag.
I think it's clear enough that "arrogant" stands in for "uppity," and "black man"--for a very foul slur.

Incidentally, the Washington Moony Times' Amanda Carpenter (@amandacarpenter) is another one who goes in for the weaselly practice of scrubbing tweets.
