After watching a National Parks dumentary segment, this quote sounds like a Fox News question

I was watching a portion of the Ken Burns documentary on National Parks and there was a segment where they talked about how National Park rangers became integral to helping tourists visiting and some of the common questions asked came up.

One particular quote struck me where I could see a Fox News commentator asking, as they might ask about why is there global warming when it's cold outside.

One of the common questions asked was:

"Why did they make the Indian ruins so close to the road?"

That's a perfect question only a Glenn Beck fan would ask!

didn't do a very good job at addressing the displacement the Indians faced with the National Parks.

While the displacement was mention as well as the Trail of Tears, if you didn't know enough, you'd think so many of the, I mean, ALL of the National parks were at one point First Nation lands...

Once a lady who sat on the park bench rather than go with her husband on my ranger talk told me "Those Indians were pretty clever but they are all lazy now."

9. Actually, there's a whole series of these questions...

That I heard from NPS workers over the years out west... At Mesa Verde, whose magnificent cliff dwellings are (fortunately) a long ways from the highway, the question was "why did they build their ruins so far from the road." At Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP, they more commonly hear "how many years before a deer becomes an elk?" I wish I could remember some of the others.... Someone told me there was some sort of book, but I suspect it was fairly "underground" in its distribution so as not to insult the tourists.

10. If the National Parks system was being created today,

Republicans would be fighting tooth and nail against it. I am also sure that if huge oil deposits were found in the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone you would be hearing the freepers scream, "Drill baby, drill!"
