because he's been too focused on healthcare and global warming." That same exact criticism came out of the mouths of everyone from Fran Townsend to Tom Kean to Jim DeMint. :eyes:

4. He should have
Most Americans should fear losing their job, instead of having an airplane flown through their place of work

Most Americans should worry more about their daughter being molested before she is a grown adult, rather than being beheaded on a extremist video

Most Americans should worry about getting hit by a drunk driver, instead of being blown up by an IED

My favorite president was a terrorist. I do not fear them. I fear what actually affects me.

11. It criminal activity
He should care no more about it than domestic mafia activity. Law enforcement branches have plenty of time to deal with crime and idiots who cant figure out how to blow up their explosive underwear.

As far as dollars spent to lives save, the current terrorist approach has a terrible bang for your buck. Hell, you could throw all that money into caring for those 44K that die every year from no insurance, fund cancer research, more stem cell research, and let the terrorist criminals have a field day, and I betcha you'll have more people alive at the end of the day with that approach (and more money in the bank). As a bonus, less terrorists and a more stabilized world.

Obama can't ignore info. coming in to him that tells him an attack is imminent or someone in particular is planning an attack.

I'm not sure why this all concerns a president. I'm not sure why blowing a load on it, globally, is the thing to do when that money can directly impact people's lives domestically.

Its all a big crock and a big fuck en giveaway if you ask me.

There are FAR more threatening things people face every day (from job loss, to murder, to lack of healthcare, to starvation). That is what needs to be in the PDB

Maybe he should just forward all that good shit on? He has far more important matters to deal with.

Hell, I got good intel that about 110 people will die tonight from drunk driving accidents. I'm not sure why its worth blowing billions on incompetent undie bombers when there are real problems

24. Well if its to neglect domestic problems that are, dollar-wise, a bit easier to fix...
in favor of scary, flashy "terrorist" problems that cost a fortune because they justify a bloated war budget, then that sort of sucks.

But I guess I just wouldn't understand. Maybe we should just trust our president.

27. Any dollar spent on the global war on terrorism that could otherwise be spent on...
solving domestic problems (that would equate to more lives saved) is a form of neglect in my opinion.

Can you imagine the lives you could save with $600 billion spent immediately on cancer and stem cell research? What if you used that to also cover the 44K that died from a lack of insurance?

Im not seeing a whole lotta of bang-for-your buck on this whole terrorist charade, and there are a whole lot of neglected areas that could use some solid dough.

31. The president doesn't have to focus on throwing billions at a problem he can't bomb away
He can have the law enforcement branches focus on the criminals. Id rather have him focus on the low hanging fruit that actually matters in people's lives.

You cannot do both at 100%. Resources are finite (and half of em are being thrown away at the bad-guys, with little proven efficiency).

This post 9-11 thinking that dictates 3 incompetent men holed up somewhere in a cave is aa big of a problem as thousands of citizens dying of easily treatable diseases is pure bullshit. There is no way you can seriously tackle the domestic threats of today with your head in the 9-11 sand, throwing billions at the process of bombing ideas.

You cannot bomb an idea. You sure as hell can treat a sickness.

Edited on Sun Jan-03-10 12:49 PM by malletgirl02
I seen an article in Foreign Affairs magazine trying to make a similar point. It criticizes Obama for pulling back from the world due to being slightly less interventionist than the Bush administration. the author also criticizes Obama for focusing on domestic issues rather than domestic issues, and calls Obama an isolationist. We all know that Obama is not an isolationist. Obama is focusing on domestic issues, because the USA needs that focus now, it is the right thing to do.

Obama scores a victory with X?
