Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Elaine Marshall is urging Congress to strengthen the healthcare bill.
Marshall, North Carolina's secretary of state, signed a letter calling for passage of a final bill that would provide affordable coverage for all Americans and would keep strong health insurer regulations and enforcement, Rob Christensen reports. The letter is short on specifics.
"We've got an historic opportunity," Marshall said in a statement. "We need to ensure that this bill works for middle America more than insurance companies. Keeping costs down for families and providing expanded access should be the core goals of the final legislation."
She signed a letter being sent by Healthcare for America Now, an organization that has lobbied for passage of a health care bill.
