And everyone was freaking out because a couple polls had him within one or two points? Even though other polls had Obama with a healthy lead?

Yeah. I think I'm having that flashback right now.

7. I'm not so sure it is all that competitive.

But it isn't a typical election. It's not like either have had time to campaign. And remember, Ted Kennedy isn't running. Every time a seat is vacated by a Big Name, it loses some of its luster for the party that owned it.

It isn't like Mass. hasn't gone Republican in a state race, either. Remember, they did elect Romney. And remember, a very well known Kerry 'only' won his last election 66-31. While not really competitive, that was in 2008 - a major election year.

This is more competitive due to the fact it's a special election.

Coakley is caught in between knowing that she really should win and needing to make sure that the base is energized enough, in a special election, that people actually get out and vote. It's not an easy line to walk, but I think she'll do just fine.

.... the folks who were "fired up!" were us and the middle who was fired up against the powers that be. Now the powers that be are us ... and the people who are fired up have tea bags hanging from their hats. They are also convinced that Democratic leadership are agents for Satan and this "Obamacare" will kill your grandma.

The President and John Kerry have both made pleas to Dems in Mass to appeal for votes and money ... and the DSCC just spent a chunk of change yesterday to run some ads.

It's never good to take anything for granted.

14. I totally agree. Also, the situation in MA is also an effect of what the media are.

I thought we learned the lesson in 2004. Dont expect the media to tell the truth.

Scott Brown is out of the mainstream Republican party of MA, a very conservative Republican. You could have hoped the media call him on his attempt to appear like a moderate Republican. They did not.

This week, the Coakley campaign and third party ads are starting to show who he really is, but this effort should have be done weeks ago.
