POLL: Blumenthal Crushes Republicans in Connecticut (35-47 point leads, 84% job approval)
Blumenthal Crushes Republicans in Connecticut

A new Quinnipiac poll in Connecticut finds Richard Blumenthal (D) has astonishing 35 to 47-point leads over three Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, thumping Linda McMahon (R) 64% to 23%, stomping Peter Schiff (R) 66% to 19% and smacking Rob Simmons (R) 62% to 27%.

Key finding: Connecticut voters approve 84% to 11% of the job Blumenthal is doing as attorney general and give him a 74% to 13% favorability rating.

Said pollster Douglas Schwartz: "Blumenthal's job approval is unbelievably high, higher than any other politician we've ever measured, other than former President George W. Bush after 9/11."

1. I just so wish Lieberman was up for re-election this year......
...... I have a feeling he'd even lose to a mannequin if he had to run.

2. Wait.
I thought Lieberman was a mannequin. Maybe that was a puppet.

3. A word of caution. Personally, I think Blumenthal's candidacy is great.
I hope this thing we call a Democratic Party does not just
complacently leave him out there until we find out he is
trouble.

It is only because I care that I write this. Image matters.
What will he be like on the stump? Does he come across
as being "like me" to the average Joe. I am just reminding
Activists that average Americans do not look at Candidates
as Activists. We know an awful lot about the Candidate so
the "Image" thing appears to escape them until it is often
too late.

What I am saying is he may need a good ground grassroots
campaign selling his credentials.

In other words folks, he may appear just a little formal.
I find nothing wrong with this. In fact, I appreciate
and believe Leaders should be a little above in order
to command respect. We have permitted the other side
to establish a person who can do a good bar room brawl
as leadership.

The DNC had best get hands on with all candidates and
not have to be parachuting in at the last minute.(Coakley)

8. He's fine in CT. Short of being found to be an ax murderer, this guy is gonna
be our next U.S. Senator. People here feel they do know him. He's everywhere taking on consumer fraud with some pretty big corporations. And he's been doing this for some time as A.G. From what I've read, it doesn't sound like the comparison with Coakley is anywhere near valid. I don't worry about that.

I do worry that he isn't very good with the RW snarlers, altho I only saw one instance (with Glenn Beck). He has a very measured, calm way of speaking and that comes across weak in such match ups. But why should he even go near the Glenn Becks of the world? He can easily avoid them.

And remember, it's the people of CT that will ultimately make the decision on his future. Even my somewhat loony RW next door neighbor has respect for Dick, due to his taking on the United Illuminating Company here. People here feel that Dick Blumenthal has consistently and strongly been on their side.

4. Oh the horror!
What terrible news! How can the media save their "Democrats are in trouble everywhere. Panic! Panic!" storyline?

6. Blumenthal has been AG since 1990 so he is well known in CT.
And he is known for taking on the big guys for the little guys. Very populist in that aspect. He is so well liked that it crosses party lines. I think as long as he stays true to how he has always come off here in CT he will be just fine.
