Unfortunately, Susan Bysiewicz, the Secretary of State, has decided to pull out of her gubernatorial campaign in favor of a run for Attorney General. However, as we noted in today's digest, the legality of her candidacy is an open question. If the legal hurdles prove too challenging to clear for Bysiewicz, reversing course and running for Governor again would probably look foolish (though maybe not fatal), but if she's just looking for another place to bide her time before she makes a run against Joe Lieberman in 2012 (as some have speculated), perhaps she'll just end up running for re-election.

9. Blumenthal is not Coakly..

He has stated he will campaign like an underdog and I believe he will, especially after the debacle in MA.

10. Blumenthal is much more well liked here and in touch with the common people

He is known for his fight against big corporations. And we have had a Repub gov for awhile. Before that we have a Repub gov that went to jail. Rell took over when Roland had to step down. I think people here are ready for a change in party for the governor. Our gov, Rell. is well liked as a person, but that is hard to recreate in another Repub.

12. Martha Coakley's pretty well liked here too.

After that horrendous ice storm, she's one of the principal reasons that Unitil Power customers ever got their electricity back. Her approval ratings were sky-high when the primaries ended, and her lead was 25-30 points.

She ran a shitty campaign. If she loses, that will be the sole reason why.
