A loss tonight is not about the loss of the "60", the loss of HCR or even a "repudiation of Obama"

No the real impact of a loss is the Tea Partyers will have elected one of their oen and Michael Steele will be there with Brown to validate the win. "Tea Partyers emboldened by win of the Kennedy Seat" will scream the headline. And there in lies the Rub.


The Tea Partyers will savor the victory for a week feel quite emboldened but it will suddenly dawn on them that they are being sucked in to the GOP Establshment, which many will resist to the point of Fratricide. It is one thing to rail against the party in power and against the Republicans leadership Cabal as well. The problem is that movement leadership has essentially said "throw all the bums out". ANd Michael Steele's embrace of the the movement will not play well with much of the RNC who still have an almost patrician mentality

The challenge for the GOP is how to find a place for the loons and the problem for the rebels is going to be how can we resit falling in step. It will not be long before the emboldened start making demands and threats and requiring party purity, I think any construction is a huge house of cards.
