Clarion Call
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 09:41 PM by demwing
It makes me SICK that we have lost this seat, but it makes me enraged that so many here at DU pretended it wouldn't happen, it couldn't happen. Some even blamed the voters -implying they were too damn stupid to know how important this election was? But these are the same voters who gave the seat to Kennedy over and over and over again, who gave the state to Obama, and who, collectively, are known in some circles as the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts.

And these voters are suddenly stupid? Suddenly crazy?

Maybe they were a little angry. No - that's not a question. That's a declaration. Maybe they were a little fucking fed up that the left gets taken for granted by the middle, gets marginalized, gets diminished, gets referred to as a small, vocal minority. Until election day, that is. Then suddenly the left becomes the heart and soul of the party and are SO appreciated.

Riiiiiight.....

If anyone wants to pretend that this wasn't a referendum on Health Insurance Reform, or on Obama--fine. Stick your head in the sand, and stick with that mentality. Good luck in the less "special" election coming down the way. Hope that works for you.

But don't blame the voters. Massachusetts has given us a clarion call. An early warning sign. They can afford to go with Brown, really, it's only two years, right? Do you REALLY believe a Brown win in this state was an accident? That it means NOTHING?

Perhaps it's worth it to get a chance to deliver a message. In the meanwhile, we had better listen.

Shhhh!

Ted Kennedy's people have spoken. What are they saying?

(By the way, should some miracle occur, and Brown goes down, I'll never be so happy to come back and eat crow.)

7. The liberals didn't abandon the party,
the party abandoned the liberals - way back when cabinet and other appointees were selected, and it hasn't stopped yet.

8. Of course it is the voters' "fault"
They choose their senator.

They aren't the same from year to year.

What they said was they wanted another repuke in the house. That means they don't want any progressive legislation.

9. It's the Voter's CHOICE, not FAULT
And its the Senate, not the House.

Do you HONESTLY believe that Ted Kennedy's old seat went to a Tea Bagger because Massachusetts believes the senate is too LIBERAL? Are you fucking KIDDING?
