"John Kerry is next!!!"
Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 10:04 PM by Avalux
Brown's American Idol finalist daughter shouted from the stage on which she was performing tonight, after Coakley conceded.

Does everyone hear that?

The teabaggers really think they can do it and they're going to try.

All I hear is how great his campaign was, and how good looking he is. I don't vote based on looks and charisma, but many people do. That was my point. Hey.....maybe it was that spread in Playgirl.....LOL...

27. English, a bit dated, but it is still used occasionally...
especially by those of us w/a few years under our belts.

As for Coakley's loss, I don't think HCR had much to do w/it. The state of MA has a far better plan that exceeds anything the House of Senate plan has, and both MA Senators voted in favor of of passage of the Senate plan. I believe that Coakley actually believed she would be coroneted because she was a D running a "cursory" campaign because of the notion she would automatically get 70% of the vote.

Fort one thing, she was about as drab a candidate as one could find; for another, she appeared clueless in many instances and just didn't get down to basics. The reality of American politics is that one must get out and shake hands, give coherent speeches about what one stands for, smile and look confident, have a basic grasp of whatever locale they are in and be ready to answer questions of basic concern. She did none of this...as stupid as bush was, he had this this concept down, Coakley is smart, but can't grasp the "average" person's concerns.

She ran a terrible campaign, she appeared aloof and unconcerned, the defeat rests in her hands, and this is not a "referendum" on Obama on D's in general, that's reaching too far. However, without some positive things coming from Washington in the near future...there could be serious backlash.

:hi:

39. Alas..it sounds like
she fell into the Perfect Storm of not getting a sure thing.

brown "worked hard to get it" but will he work hard as for the People of Mass?..or the teabag party of NO? The saga continues..

A NOTICEABLE DROP-OFF IN QUALITY"

Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R-Mass.) offered an interesting peek into his worldview last night during his victory speech.

" In dealing with terrorists, our tax dollars should pay for weapons to stop them, not lawyers to defend them.

"Raising taxes, taking over our health care, and giving new rights to terrorists is the wrong agenda for our country."

Perhaps now would be a good time to note that this is a Senate seat once held by John F. Kennedy, Ted Kennedy, Henry Cabot Lodge, and John Quincy Adams, among others.

It now belongs to Scott Brown -- a conservative who supports torture, opposes Wall Street accountability, supports more tax cuts for the wealthy, opposes economic recovery efforts, opposes Ted Kennedy's life's work on health care reform, and doubts that global climate change is the result of human activity.

40. Brown is a moron...
he's one voice, (albeit a temporary one, 2 years at best) in a minority party...essentially, he's a sparrow fart in a tornado.

here's the key to the future, whether the D's take it to the level it needs to go is a different matter: We have the votes to make changes that benefit the American citizenry. Congress needs to do things for Americans. We need jobs, job security and a serious plan to get us out of the wars we are in, the debt we have and get this nation moving forward again. Screw the R's, leave them in the dust, let them squeal, they are a worthless lot anyway, and put us in the trouble we're in now.

All of this can be done in 6-9 months...and they better get hauling ass...:hi:

Kerry's a far better campaigner than Coakley and one hell of a debater, having gotten the better of Bill Weld, himself a smart and able guy, in an epic series of debates in 1996. Folks in Massachusetts take debates especially seriously and, I'm sorry to say, Coakley performed poorly there. In 2012, Brown will be trying to avoid getting capsized in a blue presidential tide, and that will be a tall order, provided we put up an able candidate. In 1996, Bill Clinton's massive victory in Massachusetts helped swamp the state's two GOP congressmen, Peter Blute and Peter Torkildsen, both of whom went down to defeat that year.

I assume she will soon be surprised that when MA residents are polled in say 6 months, Kerry will still be favorably received by most of the state - and if her dad is consistently against him, he will not be.

MA is well aware that Kerry is both a very senior Senator, who is in the majority party, who has fought for the state and who is an honorable, decent person. Her dad will be the most junior member of the minority party.

I always thought reality TV a factor in the dumbing down of America.

46. Sen. Kerry isn't going to be next. I am sure Brownie set his daughter straight today.
Senator Kerry is up for reelection in 2014 and as the Senior Senator he holds the power card. Brown could be gone long before Kerry even has to run again. And, when Senator Kerry does run, he will win because he is popular in Massachusetts and because he works for the people.
The daughter was just playing to the crowd of stupid people. She probably did not even consider that he would be more powerful than her father-who will be the Jr Senator.
The Tea party er's can dream on in their stupor of anger, racism and misdirected hatred.

I even saw posters who said they thought Brown might win getting flamed at DU simply for just saying so. Now it turns out they were telling the truth, but I haven't seen anyone apologizing to them for flaming them.

So now we're at it again saying there is no way Kerry could lose just like we said Coakley couldn't lose. Haven't we learned our lesson yet? In this day and age given the anger of the American people, no incumbent including Kerry is safe.

there were many thought he might win but didn't gloat and those were ok.
