The statistic I keep going back to is 22% of Democrats voting for Brown

Are they DINOS swimming home? Did they just come over temporarily because of the blatant criminality of Bushdom?

Were they Dems just in order to defeat Capuano in the Primary?

I've got a lot of questions about that statistic.

In my opinion a disaffected Dem or Liberal could sit out possibly, but hard to believe they could affirmatively vote for Brown.

I LOATHED Deeds, but I still voted for him. There is absolutely no conceivable way I could have affirmatively voted for McDonnell - I would have written in Mickey Mouse first.

they hate healthcare so much, and sooo think it's going to "destroy the middle class" that they'd vote for him if they think he'd stop the healthcare plan.

Just look at 1/2 of the posts flying around here on any given day.

And, you figure that MA has lived with Romney Care.. so i'm not sure that many of them are big fans of Government Run Healthcare.. they've seen it up close and personal, and may not be able to distinguish what Romney did from Obamacare.

After living in Massachusetts for more than a decade, I think that the people aren't fond of women politicians. And after living in the Pioneer Valley for more than a decade, I can say that everyone west of Worcester is dying for any attention.

They are Dems because in MA is it cool to be a Dem, a winner, America's (or MA's) Team. Every year you see it when a new team wins the Super Bowl or World Series. Suddenly the next year there are a lot more of their jerseys or shirts in the stands. What makes you think politics is any different to many people?

I think that's what led to Obama winning so soundly in 08. The AA's and Latino population wanted to be part of a winner, that someone they could affiliate with, a minority race (albeit half) American winning the presidency was a huge thing for many - and they showed up to vote.

I wonder how many came out to vote who voted for Obama for their first vote ever? 20%? Despite the fact that allowing such a piece of crap into office hurts true progress, I doubt the numbers were very good, if we ever see them, for 1st time voters from '08.
