Mass Sec of State will Certify Brown Tomorrow.
http://twitter.com/senatus/status/7973725785

I was wrong on that one. I thought they'd try to take two weeks to give them enough time to bet a bill signed without Brown in the way.

But over the last few hours, the Dem powers that be have been sending the message that they will NOT try to delay Brown's swearing in. Hmmm ..... but why? There's got to be an upside to doing it that way or they wouldn't do it .... but what is it?

Are they trying to go out of their way to show that they're not obstructing?

3. We are officially screwed
I really thought we'd get this pass, but the lastest turn of events is going to make it impossible now. Losing that seat puts us back in the minority essentially because of the fillibuster option. We might as well have 49 Senators because the most Conservative ones are pretty much Republicans anyway. For fucksakes we didn't need this.

8. That does seem to be the ONLY option right now
But the Senate version was pretty shitting including the amendment to prevent insurance from allowing abortions to be covered. If it has to go that way, then I'd be ok with it. I'm skeptical the House will do it and that some Democrats might back away from their votes. Remember it only passed by 5. That means if 5 House members get chickenshit, it's over.

21. Abortion was never going to be covered
Too many blue dogs. Not sure the polls support it anyway.

11. Except Larry O'Donnell pointed out that we STILL need 60 votes...
.... to break the filibuster on the various procedural motions during the reconciliation process.

Ugh ..... my stomach.

13. Pass the Senate bill and we will lose the House in November
The Senate's HCR is fatally flawed, raising taxes on the middle class with no cost controls of the health industry.

7. It would look awful to try and delay swearing him in to pass health care
That's a losing play politically.

Be Republicans?

Delay him being seated would accomplish what, exactly?
Set up another media firestorm.....
while Dems keep dissing them and calling them wimps...
cause we know that will never end.

Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 07:06 AM by quantass
There is no logical reason to seat him this quickly....this has got to be a rumor...no way. I will wait for official word before shaking my head for the 100th time this year regarding this party.

If this ends up being true it is small things like this that has kept republicans around when they should have been extinct way back when the bible died and science was born.
