This is Teddy's seat no matter what and Mass is still very blue. They just lost their damn minds because our candidate was sorry as hell (bless her heart) and the repub ran from the teabaggers. Notice how the teabaggers were pretty much out of sight and he denied even knowing what they were?

The man is a one termer. He is going to piss Mass off. In the meantime we need to find a candidate WITH a personality and Credentials to run against him.

Regarding finding a candidate with a personality and credentials to run against "posing" Scott, I voted for a progressive candidate named http://www.house.gov/capuano/">Mike Capuano in the primaries; however, he (as well as others) lost to Coakley. I hope he considers running again in 2012.

I didn't vote for Brown and none of my friends did either. Remember too we've had several Republican governors and back in the 60's the state elected a black Republican named Ed Brooke to the US Senate. But to answer your question as best I can, I don't think he'll make it to 2012 politically unscathed. At least I hope not.

Someone posted that she was supported by the Democratic power brokers in the western part of the state (as that's where she is from), but wasn't well liked or supported by their Boston counterparts. She's always had a reputation of being somewhat distant and a poor campaigner, but I never knew she was this laxed, if you will.

But Brown has been trying to play down his associations with the tea baggers and other right-wing nut jobs, and make believe he's a throw back to the old-time moderate Republicans that were common in MA politics; many of whom were fiscally conservative but socially liberal. Others don't. Many people fail to realize that just because MA is often associated with liberal/liberalism that we have our share of right-wing nut jobs too who are always looking to elect one of their kind to a local, state, or national office. And it seems tonight they joined forces with right-leaning "Independents" and, according to some reports, more than a few (around 20%) disgruntled Democrats to successfully elect Brown the teabagger to the US Senate. Of course, had Coakley run a better campaign we might not be talking about Scott Brown now.

Also, not sure if I mentioned this before but Coakley didn't receive the support of the governor or the mayor of Boston. Both were behind State Representative Mike Capuano in the primaries. Just a little something else to think about.

I've been one of the ones who has supported Obama and to a point even defended the HCR bill. Even though I wasn't exactly happy about it I was willing to wait for reconcilation. Now, I'm afraid even that's not going to get done. It was passed with a small majority in both chambers. House Democrats are quaking in the boots right now. It all rides on them and if 5 or so defect, we are truly screwed.

I don't think we have a chance in hell of getting anything done now. The window of opportunity for President Obama and the Democrats was very small and they blew it. They're too timid, haven't forced change, and bowed down to the corporate masters instead of listening to the people who elected them wanting change.

The second he heads for DC and starts spouting teabagger talking points in public, he's going to ensure he never wins in Mass again.
What it comes down to is not losing any more ground and keeping the presidency. As long as that happens, that seat will come straight back. At least if we don't run another godawful person. There are airlines with less baggage than the Dem in that race had. (Which I wasn't comfortable talking much about before the race was over.) Plus she was easily one of the worst campaigners ever.

There's also the possibility that a real economic turnaround (AKA, something that isn't a jobless recovery) will gain us seats in other states.
