Did you ever see that movie?
Where the guy and the girl are REALLY in love, then the guy does something incredibly out of character and quite stupid, and then the girl goes out with another guy who is the total opposite of her real love (but nothing really happens), because she knows it will make the boyfriend jealous, and then he'll realize he's been a putz and get his act back together?

Have you ever seen that movie?

Yeah, me too.

I saw it last night. It starred The Democratic Party as the boyfriend, the State of Massachusetts as the girlfriend, and some guy named Brown as the total opposite one time date.

I'm, surprised you haven't heard that story, it's an old classic.

1. No, the party doesn't own us Massholes
And if the party doesn't perform, a lot of voters will turn somewhere else. Brown did have one very good point: this isn't "Ted Kennedy's Seat", it belongs to all of us in the commonwealth.

2. And Coakley thought it was hers. At least Brown understood New England politics.
We flirt with the GOP around here every once in awhile when we feel the Dems don't care about us.

3. Cloakley lost because she ran an incredibly poor campaign.
In fact, I wouldn't even call that a campaign...it was more like a snoozefest.

There are "basics" in politics, she didn't recognize any of them.
