One year ago today, I was here

Getting in town.

The crowds were just huge.

The sea of people was hard to photograph in its immensity.

Getting into the area I had a ticket for seemed like it was impossible.

The lines to get in while people were bundled up seem to go for miles.

Finally going through the security section...

The view with the tree blocking the video screens was something to get used to.

A view of some of the others nearby...

The echoes of Obama's voice in the chilly winter air...

I turned around to see how far back the crowd was...

Rev. Joseph E. Lowery does the benediction...

Obama smiled as Rev. Joseph E. Lowery amused the World...

A video screen showing the passing of power...

A woman who was told she had a few months to live out in the shivering cold to see history...

After the event, people scattered away back to where they started the historic, beautiful day...

I'm glad I was there. I am still very proud of President Barack Obama, despite the obvious assumptions that this was not going to be easy.

5. What a day it was. Cold. Exciting. Such an incredibly fired up crowd. I will
never forget it, I reminisced about it quite a bit today. Love your photos, takes me right back!

Here are some of my pictures from that day, there can never be enough to share the happening.
All those people, and not one single arrest as I understand it, all day long.

12. TY for the smiles.A year ago today my sis & I were visiting our dying uncle, all of us watching Obama
... being sworn in. Our beloved uncle and aunt were delighted to have lived to see this day.

The next day my sis and I had to leave, and I made a point of picking up several newspapers at the airport. I sat there reading the great national newspapers with a smile that just wouldn't go away.
